At her hometown Tawau, Sabah, Evangeline started her musical journey at the age of 5 with piano being her first instrument and receiving High Distinction at Grade 8, eight years later, and soon after and awarded a certificate of Excellence as a Solo performer from the board of Trinity Guildhall.
Evangeline pursued a Bachelor Degree in Classical Music in West Malaysia at UCSI University, renowned for its musical degree, where she was under the tutelage of Doctor Christine Tan, obtaining her Licentiateship (LTCL) again with High Distinction.
As a violinist, Evangeline has performed with the UCSI Symphony Orchestra as rank and file in the second violins, and sang in the UCSI Choir with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra in a performance of Gustav Mahler’s, Symphony No.2 ‘The Resurrection’ conducted by Benjamin Zander. As a teacher, Evangeline is passionate in preparing her students for various exams, performances and competitions. She enjoys working with her students in creating effective lesson plans that fit the individual needs of each student. She combines her teaching of classical repertoire with other genres of music, such as pop and rock music, together with techniques in improvisation.
Evangeline believes music is the key, the best gift that a person can ever have, not only for musical growth, but for enriching the personalities and lives of the people with whom she works.
