Our Teaching Faculty

We are proud to have on staff many of the country's finest and most respected musicians across all musical genres. Nearly all our heads of department and senior teachers have internationally recognised Doctorates, Masters and Bachelor Degrees from internationally renowned institutions.

As well as academic achievement, our teachers have extensive international performance experience having played with many of the worlds top orchestras and working with the likes of Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Elton John, Luciano Pavarotti, Russell Watson, Katherine Jenkins, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, George Michael, Sting, Kelly Chen, Michael Jackson, Miles Davis and many, many others. Plus of course performing with more local talent such as Siti Nurhaliza, Sheila Majid and The Alleycats.

Our teachers all lead by example and continue to perform so that one day, you too can achieve that level of success too.

Heads of Departments
Each department (strings, woodwind, piano, electric guitar etc) at BMA is headed by a highly experienced, qualified and in some cases, quite famous professional musician. He or she must possess either a music degree from an internationally recognised music conservatoire or a track record of extensive performance at professional level with orchestras, solo work or touring with major artistes or both.

The benefits of being tutored by professionals who have achieved this level of excellence is obvious. For beginners they can impart an high level of accuracy and dedication from the very first lesson and can continue to mentor them through to the highest levels of playing for both exams and performance. They all have extensive knowledge of the repertoire for their instruments both solo and orchestral or group and can pass on techniques which have taken them years to develop. In short they really know the music business so our Heads of Departments really can give students a head start in their musical education.

Application to be taught by a Head of Department is by audition/aptitude test. The Head of Departments decision on acceptance or rejection is final.

Senior Instrumental Tutors
All our senior teachers require a recognised music degree from either a local or overseas college or university or must have been performing as professional musicians and teachers for at least three years or both. Our senior teachers are solid, dependable professionals who within a few years may well graduate to head of department positions. They have finished both their musical ‘academic’ education and their apprenticeships as performers and are steadily building their careers and repertoires. They can be counted on to give first class musical and instrumental tuition and performance advice to all levels of students from beginners upwards.

Standard Instrumental Tutors
Our Standard teaching faculty all require a minimum of a music diploma or degree from a local college or university and one years teaching and performance experience. Our Standard teaching faculty range from fresh graduates to teachers who have been teaching for 20 years or more but may not have the qualifications or performance experience of some of their senior colleagues. Some of our younger Standard teachers are in some way closest to our students in that they are the teachers who have been most recently exposed to structured and up to date musical education. They have all the skills and training necessary to give their students a basic grounding in the knowledge, techniques and repertoire for their chosen instrument and the passion to help them develop those skills.
