Awarded the Scholastic Award as the best academically performing student, Timmy is a graduate of Sunway University’s Music Performance Degree programme and received tutelage from Jennifer Lim, Dr. Andrew Filmer, Mr. Samuel Tan, Ms. Christine May Yong, and Ms. Chan Yi Ling.

Timmy is an arranger, film composer, music advisor, session musician and aspiring conductor, and it is these broad interests that yielded four Film Festival Awards as the main title composer for the student short, The Umbrella.

As a community artist, notable performances have included Sunway’s University Ensemble which performed for Tun Dr. Mahatir and Siti Hasmah. Bentley Music Academy’s, ‘Mozart’s Requiem’ during the Midsummer Concert 2022, and curating and performing a recital themed on the heritage and cultural convergences experienced via the game of chess.

For Timmy, learning other aspects of art inspires and teaches him to be a better musician. His passion in animation, film and other arts helps shape and form his approach to music learning, incorporating entertainment and education into one or, in his own words, “Edu-tainment”. Each lesson therefore is tailored to each student ensuring a fruitful experience.

Details concerning technique, creativity and, most importantly, heart, are a vital component in Timmy’s music-making during the lessons, wherein his aim is to broaden the student’s horizon by igniting the spark that is in each of us.
