Eugenia Lou - Senior Double Bass Tutor The double bass is not always everyone's first choice of instrument but to Eugenia it is her passion. She studied under Wolfgang Steike, formally of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and currently Principal Bass of Malaysian Philharmonic and was Principal double bass of the MPYO herself for many years. She also played with the Asian Youth Orchestra and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra as well as the National Symphony Orchestra of Malaysia. Many of Eugenia's students initially took up double bass as a second instrument and many, particularly pianists who have limited performance opportunities, continue to do so. It is much easier to master than the violin and is an instrument as easily at home with jazz as on a classical stage.
