Jessica Cho was born 1987 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She completed her MMus in Piano Performance and Compositions at the University of Sheffield, UK in 2011. Her research focusing on twentieth century and contemporary piano recital ranged from short works by Schoenberg and Messiaen to her own original compositions. Her compositions were performed around the city of Sheffield, Taiwan, Japan and Malaysia, included works for solo instruments, trio, quartet, chamber ensemble and orchestra..
She was invited to participate in the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra forum - "Reel- Time Composer" Season 2010/11 and the works were premiered in the Dewan Philharmonic Petronas in July 2011. Jessica was featured in an article in the Malaysian Online Magazine - www.malaysiancomposers.com.
In late 2011 she was awarded third-prize winner in the Asian Composer League Taiwan's Young Composers Competitions 2011, with her solo piano piece titled "Five Little Pieces for Piano". Upon the achievement, she was interviewed and featured a gain in the some malaysian online magazines including komunitikini.com, and local magazine - Top 10 of Malaysia. In 23rd May 2012, her chamber work for six players was premiered in Kyoto, Japan. Recently, Jessica collaborated with the BFM and was among the three young Malaysian composer who were featured in the iPad magazine. She is currently specialize in writing miniatures for piano and working as a music lecturer in the Yamaha Academy of Arts and Music.
