Would you like to sing in a new choir, or play in a new orchestra?
Regardless of your experience, the Alnwick Culture Exchange promises a thorough and complete entertaining and educational music experience, and is available to all from 11 to 24 years.
All our performers, with have the opportunity to rehearse and perform alongside and meet like-minded talented musicians from around the region.
As well as playing some wonderful music, each of you will have the opportunity to conduct the orchestra and choir, and also compose some new music.
Expect plenty of variety!
Music from Australia, Malaysia and Europe from all genres; orchestral, popular, contemporary, jazz and rock will feature. The majority of the music will be especially orchestrated for the occasion.

The course fee is RM500 inc GST with an ‘Earlybird Rate’ of RM400 inc GST.
All fees must be paid before the start of the course. Earlybird Rate expires on May 31st.
Sibling discounts apply: 10% for two or 20% for three.
Additional Registration and Audit fee of RM106 to be paid on application.
All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance and an written assessment on request.

The Alnwick Culture Exchange (ACE) is part of an Global cultural exchange with musicians and artists in the UK, Europe,ASEAN, Australia and New Zealand and based on an annual event held in the award -winning market town of Alnwick in Northumberland UK, home of Alnwick Castle - as seen in the Harry Potter films, and the upcoming Transformer film! ACE in Malaysia 2017 runs for 6 days from Monday 17th to Saturday 23rd of July. Each day is divided into 4 sessions, starting at 4.30pm and finishing at 9.30pm.

Among the coaching staff, your directors for the Alnwick Culture Exchange (ACE) Malaysia are:
Award winning conductor with the Malaysian Philharmonic.
Orchestra for 16 years, Kevin is your instrumental coach for the week. Kevin has worked with leading artists and orchestras in orchestral, jazz and world music, from Argentina to Australia via Europe and South East Asia and has a genuine interest in music for youth development and brings with him plenty of energetic, eclectic experience to the camp.
Ruth McCall graduated with Honours from the Elder Conservatorium of Music at the University of Adelaide. As a member of The Song Company she toured extensively in over 17 countries, including Europe, China, the USA, England, and Asia. Ruth has performed with a variety of Sydney-based ensembles, and has performed hundreds of concerts with the Musica Viva in Schools program. In recent years Ruth has also been working as an arranger and song-writer, and was composer-in-residence for the Sydney Children's Choir in 2011.
Ensemble Virama is a musical group dedicated to performing and spreading good music. Performing chamber music is the core of the ensemble’s artistic endeavours. With a vested interest in building a future audience, educational workshops are presented to students of all ages, focusing on the musical experience without sacrificing artistic integrity.
In 2015, the ensemble presented its debut concert calendar with high acclaim, and has since performed/lectured at the Malaysian Youth Music Festival 2015, the JB Classical Music Festival 2016, UCSI University, the Malaysian Institute of Art, the Khazanah Megatrends Forum 2016, the Alice Smith International School, and other venues across the country.
Each Alnwick Culture Exchange is unique, with a new group of musicians coming together for the very first, and possibly one and only time! This then makes for a very special occasion enjoying the experience of playing truly great music together.
In order for you to get the most out of out time together you will have access to the music in advance, so you can arrive well prepared for the first session. This way our focus can be on creating a musical atmosphere, rather than note learning.
The concert will be held at 7.30pm on Saturday 22rd July in the Bentley Auditorium.

There are no auditions for ACE. We select from applications for a balanced ensemble and choir of age and experience, and ACE’s decision is final. The course registration and audit fee must be paid at the time of application. The course fee must be paid in full prior to the course. Failure in either case will render your application null and void. Bank Info Request Form for the return of fees paid (minus the audit-registration) will be given to all non-successful applicants. Under 16s will not be allowed outside the venue during breaks. Under 16s must be delivered & collected by a previously designated individual (parent/guardian). Attend all rehearsals promptly! Act in a suitable social manner at all times. All transport, refreshment and any accommodation is at Attendees cost. The music performed is subject to the numbers and standard of Attendees. The Organisers will not be held responsible for any personal loss, instrument or personal effects damage, and injury or fatality during Attendee’s participation of the Camp. The Organisers will not distribute collated personal data to third parties without prior consent from the Attendee/or Parent-Guardian. The Organsiers reserve the right to make multi-media recordings of the sessions and performance for the benefit of future music camps.
